Learn About:

  • We were founded in March 1960 as the Marple-Newtown Historical Society, with the goals of preserving local landmarks, historical records, and to collect histories and relics of the past from Marple and Newtown townships. In addition to giving talks and tours, our members were also critical in the preservation of historic buildings such as the Thomas Massey House on Lawrence Road.

After Newtown Township established their own historical society in the 1980s, we refocused our efforts on Marple Township and eventually adopted our present name. As we move toward our nation’s 250th birthday in 2026, the Marple Historical Society continues to preserve, collect, and share our community’s history in the 21st century.

  • The Marple Historical Society seeks to honor our community's past by preserving, collecting, and sharing its history.
